Do a lap around the room to collect a Red, Green and Purple Gem, open two Baskets with Purple Gems, then collect the two Red Gems up the steps on the right. Inside the tower will be a Mallet Rhynoc who also has a Purple Gem. Go up the walkway to the left of the Basket and kill the two Jackhammers for their Purple Gems. Kill the second one behind him, then collect the Red and Green Gem at the far end next to the Basket with the Purple Gem. These guys spit fireballs at Spyro when he gets close, so to safely dispatch them, spit the lava rock you pick up to kill it and drop his Green Gem. Pick up the lava rock at the lava river ahead, then stand at the edge of the river to reveal another enemy, the Flying Gecko. Kill this one for his Purple Gem, then pick up the five Red Gems to the sides of where the Jackhammer Rhynoc was. While they have no ranged attack, they are surprisingly quick on their transport of choice, so you’ll need to be cautious when approaching them. Your goal is to clear out the Rhynocs to allow Pablo’s friend Jasper to blow up the Sorceress statue they were forced to build. A tip I can give is, Cuphead's backgrounds look like children's story book paintings. You can make the backgrounds in digital art program (there's nothing wrong with that), but at least put in the effort to make them appear traditionally painted. In some of the boss fights, particularly the one that takes place near the beach, the background clearly looks like it's done on a digital art program. The backgrounds should look traditionally hand-painted. It's better to cut their losses and take away this level completely, or else it feels like a stain on what could be a really good game. The design of the monster does not fit the style of the game's charm. The whole level, characters, background look like something out of a 90s/early 2000s show. This particular level has no semblance of old 1930s-1950s cartoons. There's a level where they fight a 3 headed dog, a chihuahua being one of them. The artstyle is better complimented with a grainer effect. It looks too modern and filterless at the moment. In what they've showed, it doesn't have a 1930's tv filter like Cuphead. Instead of dismissing it as simply a ripoff, I think it's more productive to give tips on how they could amp themselves up to be on Cuphead's level of quality. The development team is quite small, and there's definitely some work to be done. They KNOW it's a copy of Cuphead's style.Įnchanted Portals was animated by 1 person. In fact, Cuphead sequels will probably be better because now there's some competition.Īlso, the developers of EP also stated on their social media pages that they're avid fans of Cuphead. Encouraging "Enchanted Portals" will not take away future installments of Cuphead. In the gaming industry, there is no finite space. It's relatively new in gaming and wouldn't mind seeing more developers/corporations cash in on the trend. As someone who loved Cuphead's style/gameplay, I'd love to see more developers copy this style. It's a weird level of consumer-entitlement where people were actually offended that another developer was copying their favourite game's art-style/gameplay. They were almost offended by the fact that it was copying Cuphead's direction. While I was browsing this community of threads talking about Enchanted Portals, I was saddened to see how negative people were about Enchanted Portals. There are games in this industry that deserve to be called a ripoff with all the negative connotation, but this is not one of them. In terms of the modern dictionary definition, yes it is a "ripoff," but that's not inherently a bad thing. It strips all the hard work from a work of art, especially when that work of art is actually pretty good on it's own. I don't think it's ever been used with positive connotation. I view the word "ripoff" as a very degrading term.
